Chinese Joss House Museum

The Chinese Joss House Museum at 10th and Front Streets in Depot Square in Evanston is a replica of the original Chinese temple (called a “joss house” by whites) built in 1874 and destroyed by fire in 1922. The museum houses artifacts from Evanston's Chinese community, including a pair of carved wooden panels dating from 1896 that decorated the original structure. The museum is free; for more information, (307) 789-8248.
