Jessica Salzman

Jessica Knight Salzman is collections manager for the Museum at the Bighorns in Sheridan, Wyo. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Trinity University and a M.A. in Museum Studies from Texas Tech University. What fascinates her most about history are stories of individuals within larger historic events.

Edward Gillette: Surveyor, Statesman, Entrepreneur

Connecticut-born Edward Gillette came west 1878, eager for excitement. His expertise as a surveyor led eventually to his leading the party that located the Burlington Railroad route through northeast Wyoming. Though Gillette, Wyo., was named for him, he finally settled in Sheridan to a life of successful business and public service.
