“Slow and Easy;” vivid artistry; where ‘Coal is King;‘ and the story of the state hospital

You could say we’re starting 2014 slowly and easily, with a look at the history of the S&E—the Saratoga and Encampment Valley Railroad—often known in the upper North Platte Valley as the “Slow and Easy.” But we’re also treating our readers to a view of the vivid artistry of three World War II soldiers who painted historic murals at the Casper Army Air Base; the history of Hanna, Wyo., where, for more than 100 years, coal was king; and the fascinating story of the Wyoming State Hospital in Evanston, Wyo.
